曲阳石雕，中国民间雕刻艺术，是汉白玉大理石雕刻的代表。其造型逼真，手法圆润细腻，纹式流畅洒脱。据《曲阳县志》记载：“黄山自古出白石，可为碑志诸物，故环山诸村多石工”。位于曲阳城南的黄山，盛产汉白玉大理石，洁白无瑕，经久耐磨，是雕刻的上等石料。早在汉代，曲阳一带的石雕艺人就用汉白玉大理石雕刻石果、碑文、龙凤、雄狮、观音、佛像等各种工艺品。相传在西汉时期，刘秀被王莽追杀到曲阳县王台北村南的山上，躲藏在草丛里。王莽放火烧山，想把刘秀烧死。刘秀的狗把周围的草弄湿了，制止了烈火的蔓延，从而使刘秀得救，但狗却累死了。后来刘秀打败了王莽，找了当地石雕艺人，为狗建塔，以表昔日救命之恩。
Quyang stone carving, the Chinese folk carving art, is the representative of white marble carving. Its modelling is lifelike, the technique is mellow and delicate, the pattern is smooth and free. According to the records of Quyang County, "Huangshan has white stones since ancient times, which can be used as inscriptions, so there are many stone works in the villages around the mountain.". Huangshan, located in the south of Quyang City, is rich in white marble. It is spotless and durable. It is the first-class carved stone. As early as the Han Dynasty, stone carvers in Quyang area used white marble to carve stone fruits, inscriptions, dragons and phoenixes, lions, Guanyin, Buddha statues and other handicrafts. It is said that in the Western Han Dynasty, Liu Xiu was chased and killed by Wang Mang to the mountain south of wangtaibei village in Quyang County and hid in the grass. Wang Mang set fire to the mountain, trying to burn Liu Xiu to death. Liu Xiu's dog moistened the grass around him, stopped the spread of the fire, so that Liu Xiu was saved, but the dog was tired to death. Later, Liu Xiu defeated Wang Mang and found a local stone carving artist to build a tower for the dog to show his kindness of saving life in the past.
到了唐、宋时期，曲阳石雕逐渐发展，到了元代，元世祖忽必烈兴建大都（北京），召集各地能工巧匠。曲阳石雕艺人杨琼因雕技精湛，被任命为总管。据记载，天安门前的金水桥，就是由杨琼设计监造的。及至清朝，就有了“天下咸称曲阳石雕”的盛名。曲阳石雕有秀美雅致的效果，栩栩如生的飞禽走兽，以及神话故事，历史故事，名胜古迹，古今人物等上百种传统作品。
In the Tang and Song Dynasties, Quyang stone carvings developed gradually. In the Yuan Dynasty, Kublai Khan, the emperor of the Yuan Dynasty, built Dadu (Beijing) and called on craftsmen from all over the country. Yang Qiong, a stone Carver in Quyang, was appointed as the general manager because of her exquisite carving skills. According to records, the Jinshui bridge in front of Tian'anmen Gate was designed and supervised by Yang Qiong. Until the Qing Dynasty, there was a reputation of "the world is known as Quyang stone carving". Quyang stone carving has beautiful and elegant effects, lifelike birds and animals, as well as myth stories, historical stories, places of interest, ancient and modern figures and hundreds of traditional works.
